Jasper’s New Music Takeaway – Soleima

Solaima 2016 B - small

Last week, when writing about a young lady from Iceland called Karo (she’s good, you should check her out), I talked about what seems to be, a current invasion of music talent from Nordic artists and bands. I mean there’s been that many, it feels there’s just no escape- not that e’d want there to be, to be honest- and here comes another, again in the shape of a young lady, but this time hailing from Copenhagen. Her name, as you’ll have no doubt already seen, is Soleima, and her new single, ‘Once Was’ (below) demonstrates her substantial talents with it’s slow burning, off kilter r&b which bears a favourable resemblance to FKA Twigs, except with more saccharine, bubblegum vocals. It’s the first single to be taken from her yet to be named forthcoming debut E.P., and it’s defo gonna be worth keeping a beady open for.
