Worn out your Hozier CDs? In need of a bit of life inspiration? Or just feeling that today’s music industry’s just a soulless money making machine churning out one meaningless throwaway artist after another? Then you may wanna have a bit of a listen to Grammy nominated South London singer/ songwriter Scott McFarnon. Having spent years writing and collaborating with musical minnows like Beyonce & Mark Ronson (ahem), he’s now gearing up to go it alone, and give his emotive tales the voice they deserve. And what a voice it is. The heavy soul of the title track & lead single from his debut E.P. Crazy Heart, with it’s defiant, heartfelt vocals, gritting guitars and epic strings, are set against a video which tells the story of Jennifer Kempton who escaped her life as a sex worker having been trafficked from her home, before going on to found the non-profit organisation, Survivor’s Ink, in support of fellow survivors of Human Trafficking. Powerful stuff indeed. Check it.
